K Greene is a tireless advocate for seed sovereignty and the important role of art in celebrating our agricultural and horticultural heritage.
In 2004, Greene founded the Hudson Valley Seed Library, the nation’s first seed library, at a small town library in Ulster County, New York.
Today, Greene, along with his partner Doug Muller, helms the Hudson Valley Seed Company, a national seed company and regional seed farm devoted to producing seed ethically for home gardeners and farmers and celebrating seeds through art. Greene is also the founder and executive director of Seedshed, a non-profit focused on growing regional and cultural seed communities through seed literacy and seed justice programs.
Greene has given presentations at Seed Savers Exchange, National Heirloom Expo, Culinary Institute of America, Cornell Extension, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and for many garden clubs, master garden groups, and community organizations.
