Irene Maria Cardoso is a Brazilian environmental scientist and agronomist. She is a retired full professor and volunteer at Federal University of Vicosa, has supervised several doctoral theses and master’s dissertations, was president of the Brazilian Association of Agroecology (ABA-Agroecologia) from 2014 to 2017, and is recognized for being one of the main activists for agroecology in Brazil, in addition to having carried out several research projects in the areas of soils and agroecology.
